Join the Community, Form a Team, and Register for the Conrad Spirit of Innovation Challenge

The Conrad Challenge features an online community of students and coaches interested in innovating to improve the future. Teams can share ideas, tips and encouragement as they advance through the Conrad Challenge.

  • Team registration is now closed for 2015.
  • 2015 Conrad Spirit of Innovation Challenge Basic Team Registration: $95/ team; $75 additional teams from same organization
  • 2015 Special Edition Giant Leap to Mars Team Registration: additional $10/team *teams must be registered for Basic Team Registration

Develop an Idea

Step 2:
Develop an Idea

Teams can choose one of four categories in which they will compete:

Aerospace & Aviation, Energy & Environment, Cyber Technology and Security, and Health & Nutrition. In addition, teams will have the option to compete in the special edition Giant Leap to Mars category.

After selecting a category, teams research the current problems facing that industry and begin to develop their innovative solutions.

Step 3:
Pitch to Investors

Initial Entry Round:
The Investor Pitch (Submission Deadline-December 1, 2014)

 

 

The Investor Pitch entry round is conducted completely online. Teams answer a set of questions and create a short video about their idea to explain and defend its viability as an innovative solution to a real-world problem. Team submissions are uploaded to the online judging portal. The teams with the top Investor Pitches will advance to the semi-final round.

Step 4:
Draft a Development Plan

 

Semi-Final Round:
The Innovation Portfolio (Submission Deadline Part One - Jan 15, 2015; Submission Deadline Part Two - March 15, 2015)

In the Semi-Final Round, invited teams with build Innovation Portfolios using the Project Lead The Way Innovation Portal. Semi-Finalist teams will use the embedded Engineering Design Process Portfolio Scoring Rubric (EDPPSR) to create shareable Portfolios describing every aspect of their idea.  Please note that this is modified from the initial announcement.

Attend the Innovation Summit

Innovation Summit: April 9-11, 2015 

 

The Innovation Summit gives qualifying teams the opportunity to present their innovations in person through marketing pitches, technical Q&A and prototyping to a panel of expert judges from industry, government, and academia. Winners are honored as Pete Conrad Scholars and are eligible to apply for seed funding grants, investment opportunities, patent support, business services, scholarships and other opportunities provided by our partners and sponsors.
