VIRTUAL FINALS SHOWCASE

The Conrad Challenge is thrilled to announce the Virtual Finals Showcase! All Finalists, judges, alumni and other members of the Conrad Community will come together virtually for a two-day event with community sessions, speakers, and of course, innovation pitching to a live panel of judges. Teams are scored and provided on-the-spot feedback from the judging panel. Through this unique virtual event, students will gain direct exposure to industry experts, corporations, investors and universities.

2022 is a FANTASTIC year for the Challenge as we celebrate the top 10 Finalist teams in each category. We can’t wait to see all of our teams in action presenting their innovations, building a community with like-minded students and networking with industry experts from around the world.

VIRTUAL FINALS SHOWCASE - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

When is the Virtual Finals Showcase?
The 2022 Virtual Finals Showcase will take place April 11-12, 2022, through Hopin, our online virtual event platform.

When is the deadline for teams to accept their Finalist spot?
The Finalist Teams in each category were emailed on Friday 2/25 regarding this recognition and next steps. If you were named a Finalist and did not receive an email, please check your SPAM folder first and then reach out to us at info@conradchallenge.org.

Beginning 2/25, the Conrad Team will make phone calls to “Team Member 1” with an invitation to either the in-person Innovation Summit (April 26-29, 2022 at Space Center Houston) or the Virtual Finals Showcase (April 11-12, 2022 via HopIn). During this call, specific instructions will be given for claiming their spot at the events. All calls will be completed by Friday, March 4 and all Finalist Teams will receive a call. All Finalist Teams must confirm their participation to either the in-person Innovation Summit or the Virtual Finals Showcase no later than Friday, March 11.

Does our entire team need to attend?
Student teams will not be penalized in any way if the entire team is unable to attend virtually. However, in order to qualify for judging, at least two members of the team must attend in-person. But ALL members of the team must still contribute to the development of and be showcased in Finalist pitch materials.

Do we need an adult to accompany us to the Virtual event?
It is highly encouraged that your coach attends the Virtual Finals Showcase, but it is not required. All students under the age of 18 must complete a signed waiver from their guardian granting permission to participate.

Will there be a financial requirement for the Virtual Finals Showcase?
All participating students attending the Virtual Finals Showcase must pay a $75 registration fee. This payment will be due upon registration through the Hopin virtual event platform.

Will there be financial aid available for Finalist teams to attend the Conrad Challenge Virtual Finals Showcase?
Following our standards in other fees associated with the Conrad Challenge, discounted rates may apply for qualified title one schools or special circumstances. If you believe you qualify for a discounted rate, please contact us at info@conradchallenge.org.

What are the awards and prizes?
The top virtual Finalist team in each category will be awarded the title of Virtual Finals Showcase Winner. All Finalist teams are eligible and will receive all the same prizes as listed on our website from the Conrad Foundation and our sponsors and partners. View the prizes here

Will the Virtual Finals Showcase be live streamed allowing others to view the event?
Programming within the Virtual Finals will only be available to registered participants within Hopin.

Will we have time to network/collaborate with others?
Yes! We are planning several opportunities for both informal and formal networking. In addition, the Alumni Leadership Council will host a session to promote networking and community building with the Finalist teams.

Will the structure of Finalist presentations and judging be the same in the Virtual Finals Showcase as the in-person Innovation Summit?

Yes, both the in-person Innovation Summit and Virtual Finals Showcase will be structured and scored the same.  Each team will present an 8-minute ‘pitch’ to live judges (either in-person or on HopIn) followed by a round of Q&A with the judging panel.
